Bikram Yoga is the ORIGINAL hot yoga.

It is a precise series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises, practiced for 90 minutes in a room heated to 40°C with 40% humidity.

The Bikram Yoga series was designed to create optimal physical and emotional health and is suitable for students of all levels of fitness, abilities and states of health. The practice is quite unique - accessible to those people who have never practiced yoga before, yet strong enough to challenge the seasoned athlete. Yoga is an ancient, holistic healing practice and many people who practice Bikram Yoga do so because of the health and well-being benefits they experience.

Is all Bikram Yoga hot yoga?  YES.    Is all hot yoga Bikram Yoga?  NO

Bikram Yoga was established 40+ years ago. It is a fixed sequence that lasts 90 minutes in 40° C heat, with 40% humidity. It takes place in a specially designed carpeted room, minimizing the risk of injury through slipping. Postures are held for a specific length of time so that the body is held in stillness, using focus and breath to create change. Postures are separated by a brief rest, allowing the student to recover, re-oxygenate their body and prepare for the next posture. Teachers are Bikram Yoga certified. Each Bikram Yoga studio forms part of a huge network of hundreds of genuine Bikram Yoga studios worldwide.

Hot yoga is an offshoot of the popularity of Bikram Yoga and began mainly in the last decade. Class lengths vary but are usually only 60 minutes. Classes often take place on hard floors, in lower heat. The sequence of postures tends to vary by studio. The style of the yoga is usually flow with, typically, no breaks in between postures. Teachers have various teaching backgrounds. Hot yoga studios tend to be single studios or small groups of studios.

CORE+ HOT PILATES

We are so excited to announce the launch of a new group class Core+ Hot Pilates at Bikram Yoga Peninsula. Core+ Hot Pilates incorporates traditional Mat Pilates exercises plus a revolutionary mix of high intensity interval training and weight work to strengthen your core and tone your body. The room is heated to 34 degrees, to maximise your workout. Each class will follow a similar sequence but the order and focus will vary from class to class.

You will burn calories, strengthen your core and tone your body in this 55 minute class. It will be one of the best workouts you've had and will leave you feeling energised.

The class is a great complement to your Yoga practice and classes are included in your Class Passes and Membership.
